news:3xvjc.42414$GR.5924603@attbi_s01... I just went in and looked at my weight change history in fitday. I've been wanting to lose the 5 lbs I gained since my layoff... But it seems that I have lost and gained those 5 lbs about 4 times in the last year. Is this what they call yo-yo dieting? Or is this just normal fluctuation in weight? Yo-yo is usually more like losing 20 pounds, gaining 30 back, losing 20, gaining 30... 5 lbs is a pretty normal variation, especially if you're a women (menstrual cycle). They might come from stress, season, hydratation level... |

I'm assuming that it is normal, and it makes me feel good that even with all the transistions I've gone through, my weight has remained relatively static through it all. det I'd say "normal"... otherwise I'm in the same boat. :-) But I think yo-yo dieting is usually defined as a 20lb difference. Heck - I can fluctuate 5lbs in a day. What it shows is that you do keep an eye on yourself and your body and you can maintain. Weight doesn't really stay consistent day in and day out. It varies based on our activity levels and food intake. Oh, and yes, I have been receiving all your emails. I just haven't had much time at home to be on the PC to respond - in private either. Things are settling down. Not resolved, but settling down. I'm not sure if there is any resolution. But all will be ok in the end. |

It looks like a normal fluctuation to me.... My weight can move 5 lbs in one
day too depending on time of day and how much water I've had.... I wouldn't let it concern you. It isn't yo yo dieting. "determined" wrote in message news:3xvjc.42414$GR.5924603@attbi_s01... Hark! I heard "determined" say:
I just went in and looked at my weight change history in fitday. I've been wanting to lose the 5 lbs I gained since my layoff... But it seems that I have lost and gained those 5 lbs about 4 times in the last year. Is this what they call yo-yo dieting? Or is this just normal fluctuation in weight? I'm assuming that it is normal, and it makes me feel good that even with all the transistions I've gone through, my weight has remained relatively static through it all. Yo-yo dieting refers to quickly losing a bunch of weight, then gaining it all back plus more. I used to starve myself (no exaggeration, we're talking 500 calories per day for 2-3 weeks at a time); I couldn't maintain that WOE and as soon as I starting eating again, I'd start gaining too. Lose 30, gain 50, lose 50, gain 80. It's very bad for your heart, and I'm glad I've learned enough about nutrition to avoid that trap again. Your 5 pound fluctuation sounds (to me, anyway) to be quite normal and yes, something to be proud of... -- J.J. in WA State - 251/232/150 (Change COLD to HOT for e-mail) |
