It is my experience that you gain when you first start working out. Muscles
hold water and water weighs a lot. If you are sore, this is mostly likely
the case. The gain is temporary. Hang in there.

One additional note: You may be gaining muscle, and muscle weighs more
than fat. However, muscle raises your metabolism which burns more
fat. I would stick with the exercising for a month and see if it
pays off, I'm sure it will. Plus you'll receive additional benefits
such as a stronger heart, stronger bones, etc... Good luck.

when I started exercising I gained a bit too. I think muscles take on
water to recover from the stress. Be patient for a couple of weeks,
and drink some extra water. You aren't gaining fat if you are OP, just
getting fitter so don't worry.

Ray

ps. Don't do too much exercise, especially if you do
resistance/weights. The body needs time to recover.

Default Exercise Question

Texas Girl,

I am sore, I have muscles in my stomache that I did not know I had. I
started drinking more water today, but I was not able to workout today. I
had a 2 hour meeting with a parent, I plan to do yoga tonight and do pilates
in the AM.

We are leaving for St. Louis (live in Oklahoma City) and I plan to sneak
weights into the van and workout in the hotel. (I have only been using s
pound weights) I am hoping they have a gym and I hope that it is decent. My
little sister (she is 27) is getting married Sat. so we plan on coming back
home on Sunday

I know what you mean about sore muscles in your abdomen. When I first
started Yoga/Pilates I found muscles I never knew I owned! But, they're
getting better, now.
