Someone here mentioned Somersizing and yummy recipes, so I ordered
those books from the library. Three of them came in yesterday.
Is her approach similar to Montignac's? After skimming the
non-recipe parts of the book, it seems she seems to allow
different food components at different times: the components are
fat/pro/nonstarchy veggies, carbs/veggies, and fruits. You cannot
eat certain food which she dubs "funky", which seem to straddle
the boundaries. I am curious as to whether people here have any
experience with this approach? Regardless, some of the recipes
look good and doable for this WOE. I also like the fact that she
(in at least one of the books) give equivalents for her
Somersweet. (And comments on that, BTW?)

I think she's a third-rate actress who invented her diet as a pamphlet to
sell more Thigh-masters. I don't know one credible source who thinks her
food-combining theory has anything to it. Eating fruit by itself really
goes against most all low-carg authors. Just my opinion

Yes. Both Suzanne and Sugar Busters owe a lot to Montignac.

Thanks, Lila. I am thinking I will just use some of the recipes
that fit in with this WOE and forget the rest. I am mainly
curious.

I am curious about Montignac. I guess I will have to get one of
his books someday. There is only one cookbook in our library
system.

My theory on why her "diet" appears to work is this:
I'm not so convinced that Suzanne ever really had cancer, but that's neither
here nor there.
I'm writing to tell you WHY Somersizing APPEARS to work for some people.
Somersizing eliminates sugar and certain starches. Then you are told [in
order] to lose weight you MUST eat the foods that remain in certain
combinations ONLY!
BUT you cannot go from a steak and veggie dinner to a plate of fatfree pasta
and sauce immediately after the steak, YOU MUST wait at least 2.5 hours for
SPECIAL digestive enzymes to work!
THE SPECIAL COMBINATIONS AND THE SPECIAL ENZYMES ARE THE KEY TO HER
WEIGHTLOSS PLAN! She purports that its these "Special" tenets that
physiologically cause the weight-loss! Therefore You MUST buy the books etc!

Well, I figured out the secret.....
The dirty lil secret behind SSing!
The diet itself is Smoke and Mirrors!
ANY time you stop eating for LONG stretches of time, like you HAVE to when
you
switch up between one of her "specially formulated" Pro-Fat and Carb meals
You'll lose weight! It's NOT the food
combining that's working it's the Behavior modding!
IT FORCES YOU TO STOP EATING FOR STRETCHES OF TIME!
AND the reason you feel
better on it, is because YOU GAVE UP SUGAR!
ITS NOT SOMERSIZING THAT CAUSED THE WEIGHTLOSS OR FEELING BETTER!!!
Give up all SUGAR and just eat healthy balanced meals BUT wait at least 3
hours
between them!
I guarantee you will lose weight!

Suzanne Somers (Who is NOT a Doctor
or Licensed Dietitian) has attempted to REWRITE nutrition!
NUTRITIONAL GAFFS (read: HOLES) in Somersizing are...
GUESS WHAT SUZ'? MILK is a PROTEIN it's not a CARB!
AND on SS you cant have Carrots YET she allows FREE usage of the SWEETEST
MOST
SUGARLADEN veggie out there, ONIONS!
BERRIES ARE FRUIT plain and simple!
ATKINS WOULD NEVER WORK IF WHAT SUZANNE SOMERS SAYS IS TRUE!

Example:

Suz' wont let you eat carrots
but YOU CAN eat onions
on Pro/Fat days.

HMMMM!

Thats Odd!

1 medium sweet (Walla Walla or Vidalia) onion:
60 cals
14 g Carb
9 g sugar

1 Large carrot:
35 cals
8 g carb
5 g sugar

Let's see how many ONIONS are in Her Husband Allans Eggs (a "Diet recipe" in
her book)?
2 LARGE ONIONS!
Thats 1 CARMELIZED ONION for each person!
WOW!
Thats A WHOPPING 120 Cals, 28 Grams Carbs and 18 GRAMS SUGAR!!!!!
Just keep on pulling the wool over ppls eyes Suz'!
