Why not consider buying a piece of home exercise equipment when you can
scrape up enough money to do so ? That way, you can exercise at home
until you become confident enough to join a gym (if you still want to
join one that is). There are also excellent aerobic workout tapes that
you can buy. I recommend Leslie Sansone's Walk Aerobics 40+ video if you
are looking for an uncomplicated workout video for beginners. You don't
have to join a gym in order to exercise.

Tell yourself enough is enough & you want to be healthy. Eat the crap
food until you get $ to buy some fresh foods. Eat 1/2 what you would
normally eat. If you get hungry again in an hour, go for a walk. I am
losing weight eating what I like in controlled portions (just like
Lictor!), and it's surprisingly easy when you hold yourself truly
accountable to a program like fitday.com. Don't cheat, you are only
cheating yourself. Chew each bite 30 times, at least. You'll be
surprised how fast you are full.
Finally, I got it -- you don't like veggies, fruits, etc. Eat them
anyway. Whoever in this life told you you have to like everything you
eat? Sometimes you have to look at it like taking your medicine! I
don't like lots of veggies, or fish, but I make myself eat these
things because I know they are nourishing my body.
I hope this helps, I know this group helped me tons!!!

About the gym: If you look around and see only fit, buff
people, find another gym. If you are worrying about how you
look, first of all, don't, because people worry about
themselves not you. But if you remain unconvinced, go at an
unpopular time, like 2pm (when I go, but only because I'm
unemployed and hate crowds anyway) or 8pm, when the after-work
crowd is going home.
Some days, like today when I'm feeling frustrated, I just have
to put one foot in front of the other and *get* myself there.
I don't even resolve to *do* anything once I get there. My
only resolve is to scan my card, then I can go home (though
that hasn't actually happened yet, because I always say,
'well, as long as I'm here...')

Let's see, you have no cash, a freezer full of junk, and no desire to buy
any veggies or anything substantial anyway. Based on this knowledge, I'd
say keep on eating whatever you want, but eat far less of it. Skip some
meals. Sometimes, the poor man's diet (less food) is the best way to go.
If you had "cash" and wanted to eat a healthy diet, I'd say eat plenty of
fish and green salads with real olive oil dressings, keep the empty
calories (sugars, starches, and useless fillers). In the beginning eat as
much as you need in order to drown out the cravings for the junk you've
been accustomed to eating, and then eventually my experience has been that
appetite stabilizes, and my taste-buds are "reset" to what they should be.
YMMV (Your mileage may vary)

ahem, insert the phrase "to a minimum" at the end of the above sentence,
unless you don't want to, in which case, it's your call LOL.

You've been given a number of recommendations.
Have you used any of it?

The biggest thing you'll need to change is your attitude toward losing
weight. If you continue with the "I can't do it" attitude it will never
happen. Everything doesn't have to be changed in one day. Start exchanging
the bad eating habits one thing at a time.
I know some healthy foods are more expensive than others but there are
plenty of low cost healthy foods around - oatmeal, eggs, fresh vegetables.
Look for items on sale. It's possible to shop healthy and not break the
bank. Fresh items are often less expensive than the prepackaged items and
it's much better for you.
You don't have to join a gym for exercise. Grab a pair of walking shoes
and head out the door. It's a great form of exercise and something you can
do alone. Visit the gym - you might be surprised at the number of people
who go alone.
WW is a good program. You won't feel out of place if you attend alone.
People who swear they don't like vegetables and fruits often find they
really like them when they're prepared properly. Buy a new one each trip to
the grocery and surf the web for the best way to fix it. Most vegetables
are great when they're steamed. I personally love stir-fry vegetables. Add
a small amount of oil to the skillet, sprinkle with some water, lemon juice
or white cooking wine, add some Mrs. Dash seasoning or one of your favorites
and cook - they taste great! I usually add some tofu to mine for protein.
It makes a quick, easy, tasty and healthy meal. Experiment with new foods -
you might just like some<g>
If you can afford to buy the junk food you can afford to buy the healthier
foods. The cravings for junk food may subside if you're getting the proper
nutrition from other sources.

I tend to agree with everything, except the 'skip some meals' part. These
tend to come back with a vengeance during the following meal, and they can
put your body (and mind) in starvation mode if you do that too often.
Besides, the whole process (starve - overeat - starve - ...) feels a bit too
close to an eating disorder to me...

Not with the type of foods the OP wants, the OP's lack of money, and his/her
unwillingness to eat vegetables. I should have left the highlights of
his/her post in. His/her freezer is full of empty calorie food, and so the
standard "eat less" would apply. Normally if someone posted saying they
want to *change* their way of eating, I'd recommend fish, lots of veggies
and fruits, and less of the empty calories. The standard "calorie
budgeting" is a good idea for someone who doesn't really want to change
their way of eating.
