View Full Version : No cheese!

I hate cheese and am getting very frustrated since even in Weight Watchers I
find cheeses used either in the recipes or as snacks. Is there something
that I can substitute for the cheese in either recipes or snacks? Cause
there isn't any way I'm going to suddenly start eating stinky cheese. ;-)

in many recipes you can leave out the cheese altogether. others would need
some substitute but that would depend on the recipe. Odd you mention this,
I love cheese but would like to have alternatives and was just considering
the use of hummus as a substitute for pizza, Lee

Depends on the recipe -- in many you can just leave the cheese out, or
substitute tofu as someone else mentioned.
But maybe what you really need are some new recipes -- there are plenty of
healthy recipes out there that are tasty and don't call for cheese.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions and the understanding answers. Usually
anytime I mention my dislike for cheese I am looked upon as though I sprung
from another planet or something.

I understand, I eat ice-cream but it is rarely my first choice, Lee

As Fred suggested, a vegan cookbook would be a good place to find non-cheese
recipes. There's even a vegan cookbook by Joanne Stepaniak called *The
Un-Cheese Cookbook* (published by The Book Company) that gives fairly simple
recipes for mock cheeses that don't include any dairy.
Some cultures in Asia find it ludicrous that Westerners consume the exuda of
animal mammary glands. Put that way, I can agree with them! (They get their
calsium from legumes and sea vegetables.)
Good luck in your weight loss!

Amen! I'm not big on cheese either. The only kind I like is mozerella
cheese or cheese used in Mexican food. I HATE Mac and Cheese or Nachos
and cheese...those things are loaded with FAT!!!!! Thank god I never
cared for it. P/s that cheese they put on the lean cuisine roasted
potatoes with brocoli..Yuck!

In addition to looking for vegan recipes try looking at the ww board for
core recipes. Many are without cheese because we are only allowed the FF
kind which does not really taste or cook well.

Oh sorry. Didn't realise it was country specific! On the tub it says
cultured dairy cream. It's like sour cream but lower fat and less sour!
You get full fat, half fat and fat free types and also you can buy it
flavoured like yoghurts.
